The Sunroom and Master Bedroom

It has been awhile since I posted anything. My apologies. Things are still moving along. The upstairs is almost 100% complete. One more room to paint.

In the last posting We were working on the sun room and now both the sun room and the Master bedroom are done. Peter did all of the drywall, modeling, floor and ceiling. It was a lot of work, but now it looks great.
Look at his amazing window sill. It is all one piece of wood.

Add the bead board ceiling.

Here we are starting on the flooring.

The sill looks good huh?

In the master bedroom Peter installed old modeling from the rest of the house, stripped it all and we painted it white.
Painting the modeling

The closet before it was filled with stuff.
This is our closet!!

We are all moved in!!

Peter was actually home for three days

It was brief, but he got a lot done. We are concentrate on the finishes in the Master Bedroom.

We did the modeling. We were able to use the original modeling that we removed from other parts of the house and put them around the windows and doors in the Master Bedroom.

Peter also did all the caulking in the hallway bathroom because the person we had do the tile did horrible job.

But the biggest thing he got done was the drywall in the sunroom. The sunroom is starting to look like an actual room and is going to be the nicest room in the house.

We also got the light hung in the dinning room and the dinning room table set up. This was Peter's Grandmothers table that we had refinished. It looks great!!

Work continues

We are down to the little stuff. The big stuff is completed. Including the kitchen . . .

The master bathroom . . .

And the guest bath . . .

We have beautiful french doors in the Master bedroom and got window installed in the upstairs porch.

We just have the "little" stuff to do that Peter can do with a little help from me. The little stuff may take us the better part of 5 years, so maybe it isn't so little . . .

The little stuff includes installing the subfloor on the upstairs porch (no the sunroom) . . .

We Moved In!!!

Well don't get too excited . . . we move all our stuff into the basement Friday March 29.

And proceeded to sleep in a hotel while they finished the floors.

We went with the natural stain color on the old floor and nutmeg on the new oak floors. I am not happy with the stain choose on the new floors, but I was being to in decisive, so just went with what Peter and our freind Justin thought would look the best. No offense to Peter and Justin. The old floors came out a lot more orange then I expected, so the two stain colors don't really match.
As long as you don't look at them like the above photo shows and just stare at the break between the two floors they look good.

The back of the stairs will be painted black or white.

They finished the floors the night we moved our stuff in the basement, but the floors took two days to dry and than  the plumber and electrician took a couple of days to finish things up before inspection.

Wednesday April 3 was our first night at the house. Although our stuff is still mostly in boxes in the basement and we are confined to one room while we finish painting the master bedroom and bathroom.

Oh and the cats get the other room that doesn't need to be painted right away.

They also delivered the reclaimed wood counter top on Wednesday. This is perhaps my favorite part of the house so far. That and the pendant lights that go with them. I took my time deciding on the stain color for the counter top.

My other favorite part of the the kitchen is the big pantry cabinet with draws that pull out.

This weekend we (my coworkers Nick, Brenley and I) painted. Needless to say Peter is pissed he had to leave town, although I can't say he is pissed that he doesn't get to paint . . . there are other things he would rather do like carpentry.

Sorry, this picture is sideways . . . but I only had to buy 10 samples to decided on the color for the master bedroom. We went with a nice tan. Kind of boring I know, but the master bedroom and bathroom are the same color and it looked best in both rooms.

I will post some good before and after pictures next.
