What have we gotten into?

We set out to find a project.  Somewhere we could express our idea of a home, find a sense of community, and build equity.  We wanted a Diamond in the Rough.

We found our diamond in the Highland district of Denver.  Lots of cool shops, restaurants, and great bars within walking distance.  The neighborhood is full of mid 30 somethings looking for the city life, but still having their own castle with a small yard.  The area has homes dated from 1890 (our home) to the mid 1950's.  Lots of brick, purple accent colors, and dogs.  Very much the hip area of Denver.

Our little diamond sits on the corner for all to see.  We can be at my new favorite restaurant (Garbonzo's) in 5 blocks.  We also have several coffee options within the same 5 block radius with non being Starbucks!

The project; built in 1890, Victorian, 2 story, 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath, and around 1,300sf.  The roof, furnace, and water heater are in great shape.  The remainder is our palette.  We have the opportunity to re-create a home of the era using modern updates.  We have the opportunity to bring light into the kitchen, and become experts on parging (more in the coming months).  We have the opportunity to build relationships with contractors of all trades.  All of these windows open to us within the next two months.

We dove in head first and hope to land on our feet.  Enjoy the journey with us.
